This will erase the device and allow you to set it up again, either from a backup or as a new iPhone. Here are the steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Method 1: Using a Computer (Finder or iTunes)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Connect your iPhone<\/strong> to a computer (Mac or PC).<ol><li>On a <strong>Mac<\/strong> with macOS Catalina or later, open <strong>Finder<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On a <strong>Mac<\/strong> with macOS Mojave or earlier, or a <strong>PC<\/strong>, open <strong>iTunes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Put your iPhone in recovery mode<\/strong>:<ol><li><strong>For iPhone 8 or later<\/strong>: Press and hold the <strong>Side button<\/strong> and one of the <strong>Volume buttons<\/strong> until the power off slider appears. Turn off the iPhone, then press and hold the <strong>Side button<\/strong> while connecting it to the computer. Keep holding the button until you see the recovery mode screen (a cable pointing to a computer or iTunes icon).<\/li><\/ol><ol><li><strong>For iPhone 7 or 7 Plus<\/strong>: Press and hold the <strong>Side button<\/strong> until the power off slider appears. Turn off the iPhone, then press and hold the <strong>Volume Down button<\/strong> while connecting it to the computer. Keep holding the button until the recovery mode screen appears.<\/li><\/ol>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>For iPhone 6s or earlier<\/strong>: Press and hold the <strong>Side button<\/strong> until the power off slider appears. Turn off the iPhone, then press and hold the <strong>Home button<\/strong> while connecting it to the computer. Keep holding the button until the recovery mode screen appears.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Restore your iPhone<\/strong>:<ol><li>In <strong>Finder<\/strong> or <strong>iTunes<\/strong>, you\u2019ll see a message that your iPhone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. Choose <strong>Restore<\/strong>. This will erase your iPhone and reset the passcode.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After erasing, you can restore your iPhone from a backup or set it up as new.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Method 3: Using the Apple ID website (Newer iOS Versions)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In iOS 15.2 or later, if you enter the wrong passcode too many times, you may see a <strong>&#8220;Erase iPhone&#8221;<\/strong> option at the bottom of the lock screen.
