Title – Engineer

Pay – $18.50 an hour, plus 15% raise every month for 12 months

Hours - 50 hours a week

Solution:

Each week at first month payment: 18.50x50=925.

First month payment: 925x4=3,700

Payment per year: 3700(1st month)+3700*1.15(2nd month)+3700*1.15*1.15 (3rd month)...+3700*1.15....*1.15 (12th month) = 3700(1+1.15+1.15*1.15...+1.15...*1.15) =
3700(1+1.15+1.32+1.52+1.75+2.01+2.31+2.66+3.06+3.52+4.05+4.66) = 3700*29.01 = 107337.

Payment per hour: 107337/(50*4*12)=44.72

Job #2 – Jones and Jones Associates

Title – Lawyer

Pay – $75,000 salary, plus 10% bonus pay in December

Hours - 60 hours a week

Payment per year: 75000*1.10=82,500

Payment per hour: 82500/(60*4*12)=28.65

 

Job #3 – Medical Industries, Inc.

Title – Doctor

Pay – $150,000 salary, minus 21.6% insurance fee

Job #4 – Langley Associates

Pay – $40 an hour, contractual

Hours - January is 6 hours a week, February is 12 hours a week, March is 18 hours a week,

April is 25 hours a week, May, June, July, and August is 40 hours a week, September and

October are 25 hours a week, and November and December are 20 hours a week.

Job #5 – Feldspar, LLC

Title – Geologist

Pay – $20 an hour, plus 10% raise each week for the first three months.

Hours - 40 hours a week, plus three weeks unpaid vacation a year

Compare and Contrast at least 2 jobs. Make a table and compute the data to figure

out which job makes the most $ per year? Which job makes the most per hour? Which

job works least?
